The deeper one feels...
"The deeper one feels grief, the stronger one feels joy.
Just as important as refining our five senses is the need to feel deeply, to know strong joy and deep sorrow. People should laugh loudly and weep profusely. The deeper the grief you feel, the stronger the joy you can feel. The more a person cries, the more he can laugh.
Up to now, the ideal employee was said to be a go-getter. A go-getter was someone who strived to all costs to prevail not only at work but in his private life as well. Such individuals are relentlessly positive and utterly refuse to accept even the possibility of failure. They are strongly goal orienated, and if they fail to acheive their goals for some reason, they regard themselves as failures as human beings, ending up in the state of self hate, despair and neurosis that they sought so hard to avoid.
We mustn't think of emotions as hindrances or failings. Developing a broad-ranging emotional compass allows us to live freely and vigorously".
Tariki - Embracing Despair, Discovering Peace, Hiroyuki Itsuki
This is a very inspirational book that Leo introduced me to, Itsuki speaks directly to the human heart. In this sometimes cold, repressed world where emotions are not welcomed, this book is a little ray of sunshine and hope.
